Strategen provided ongoing support for BC Iron’s Nullagine iron ore project in relation to environmental approvals. These ranged from the very early stages of the project including the preparation of material for the feasibility study, mining proposals for different project stages, native vegetation clearing permits, and environmental management plans through to construction management plans, annual reporting and closure plans.
A major issue was the presence of a Northern Quoll population within the project area, making the project a “controlled action” under Federal legislation. Strategen successfully helped BC Iron to demonstrate it could comply with stringent conditions including a major research project to protect the Northern Quoll, and subsequent approval to start the project.
