Strategen prepared Commonwealth assessment referral documentation for the Satterley Property Group’s 90 hectare urban residential development in Wandi, located approximately 27 kilometres south of Perth. This referral included detailed field mapping of the types of habitat present in the Wandi development area, which we used to design management strategies and offsets, particularly for impacts on the Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo.
Part of the Wandi project area was in a Priority 2 public drinking water supply area, precluding residential development. Strategen prepared an application to change the classification to Priority 3, which would allow residential development. We included outlined measures to protect the groundwater from contamination, and prepared a plan to manage dieback during development and after construction. The application was successful and the priority classification was changed, thereby allowing the development to proceed.
