Water Management Projects

OUR PROJECTS

Upper Swan Local Water Management Strategy

Strategen prepared a Local Water Management Strategy (LWMS) for a 132 ha residential development in Upper Swan.  The site is located adjacent to Ellenbrook, and requires sensitive management of nutrients and water.

Strategen prepared the LWMS including stormwater concepts, groundwater assessments and allocation management, foreshore management plans, agency liaison and water conservation modelling.  Strategen has an ongoing role in the development of the site.

Waroona Golf Course Irrigation

Strategen worked to develop a Treated Wastewater Irrigation Scheme for the Waroona Golf Course.

Strategen developed a targeted groundwater and soil sampling program to support proposed irrigation area in response to the site hydrology.  Water and nutrient balance modelling was undertaken to identify the area that could be irrigated and provide design advice for sizing of storages and identify key factors to ensure project success.

A MODFLOW groundwater model was undertaken to assess nutrient fate and transport and identify the potential risks to downstream receptors from the  proposed irrigation practice.

The modelling demonstrated that the project would result in a decrease in nutrient loads to the Peel-Harvey Estuary while improving the quality of the Golf Course Greens.  The project has proceeded to the detailed investigation stage.
